Meal Preparation and Shopping
At WesternCare Enterprise, our bilingual and culturally aware support workers can help you with shopping and meal preparation. It is important to us that you enjoy the right meals and levels of nourishment.
Meal Preparation & Shopping Overview
Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), meal preparation and shopping are support services that can be included in a participant's plan, provided they are necessary to meet their daily living needs. These services are designed to assist people participants in managing their nutrition and maintaining independence in the kitchen and grocery shopping. Our team of qualified support workers and Nurses will help participants achieve their meal plan goals by assisting with meal preparation and grocery shopping.
Here’s a breakdown of how these supports might work for participants at WesternCare Enterprise:
1. Meal Preparation with WesternCare Enterprise:
Assistance with Cooking: Support workers can help with meal preparation, such as chopping vegetables, cooking meals, or following a meal plan.
Meal Planning: Some participants may need help planning meals that align with their dietary needs (e.g., for health reasons or cultural preferences).
Supervision or Guidance: Support workers might help someone who is capable of cooking but requires supervision or assistance with specific tasks (e.g., using kitchen equipment safely).
2. Shopping for Groceries with WesternCare Enterprise:
Accompaniment to Grocery Store: A support worker might assist with shopping, helping the participant navigate the store, select items, and make purchases.
Independent Shopping Support: If a participant can shop independently but needs help in managing the process (e.g., handling large crowds or following a shopping list), a support worker can provide assistance.
Online Shopping Assistance: If a participant prefers or needs to shop online, support may be provided to help them navigate the ordering process.
